Time to Live Mas! (The Adventure Begins)

Have you ever noticed how every time a Taco Bell commercial pops up on your television -- and if you are watching a program that skews toward the ultra-coveted 18-49 year-old demographic, this will happen A LOT -- you want to eat Taco Bell?  As in, immediately?

As fate would have it, this happened to me earlier today.  I don't even remember what program I was watching.  But I knew I needed to have Taco Bell.  I really can't think of any other fast food chain where this happens to me.  If I see a Burger King commercial, or a Long John Silver's commercial, or a (gag) McDonald's commercial, I experience no longing for their products.  Which is not to say that I do not occasionally enjoy fare from say, Wendy's, or Arby's, or Kentucky Fried Chicken.  But there is no "view commercial and immediately crave" sort of impetus in these instances.

So I found myself taking the short 10-minute drive to Taco Bell and had an epiphany of sorts.  (Admittedly, as epiphanies go, this one wasn't exactly world-altering.)  As I am sure many of you would admit, I tend to be locked in to my usual menu favorites when living "mas."  It makes sense, after all.  When I find something that I like, I want to eat it again.  (And again.  And again.)  Besides, if I moved on from something that I like to try something new, I might not like the new selection.  And then the inevitable waves of regret wash over me as I realize I could have been enjoying the known comfort of a familiar favorite.

But that's not Living Mas!  Living Mas (if I understand the concept correctly) means that I must discard the tendency to make the safe, known choice in my quest to discover food greatness.

So today my journey begins:  I pledge to try each and every item on Taco Bell's menu and report my findings here on "My Great Taco Bell Live Mas Adventure" blog.
